A new beginning: don’t you just love this time of year?
I walked outside and it just felt like football. It was 55 degrees and still dark at 6:20am. It’s the second day of school for my kids, and I just get the feeling that there are things to be done and new beginnings to be made. Anything can happen!
Every fall sports team begins undefeated.
It’s a reminder to me of the fresh start God gives us. In Lamentations 3, Jeremiah, God’s prophet, was pretty mad because of what He thought God had caused in his life. Have you ever felt that way?
But then Jeremiah did something we all need to do to set our mind straight and allow ourselves to have a new start. Verse 19 starts with that action – Remember.
Remember my affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and bitterness.
20 Surely my soul remembers
And is bowed down within me.
21 This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
22 The Lord’s lovingkindnessesindeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
