What's Important

I kept forgetting. Every night, it was the same thing. I would get home from the TV station and my kids would ask me, “Did you bring the charger Daddy?” They needed the charger to charge my ‘old’ cell phone so they could play games. It was important to them!

But, it was low on my priority list.

That is, until I remembered how important they are to me.

So on Thursday, I promised my son I would remember. I got to the office and went right for the charger. I placed it in front of me, on my desk so I wouldn’t forget. Then the day got busy and before I knew it, it was time to go home.

I shut my lights off and was walking out the door when I remembered. Yes! I remembered! I raced back to my office and retrieved the charger! My kids were thrilled when I held it out to them as I arrived at home.

But I almost forgot.

Because life got busy and my mind became cluttered and a charger didn’t really hold my attention.

We get busy too. With kids and activities and work and life and before we know it, we have forgotten to talk to God. Or to hear from Him through his Word. Or to listen.

Maybe we need to hear the words of David to remind us.

In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait expectantly. – Psalm 5:3

Give your first moments to God, and wait expectantly. And if you forgot the charger like I did, don’t hesitate to stop and pray when you remember. He is waiting to hear from you.

From trips to vehicles and collectables to antiques, find out what we'll have up for auction this Saturday, September 8! Bidding starts at 9am!
