Any Lynch Points of Life Surprise

Can I share a secret with you? My wife and I have been keeping this secret from our kids for months, and tonight, we can finally let them in on the surprise. But if I don’t share it right now, I may burst!

But the thing is, my kids don’t know a surprise is coming. So today was just a rainy Wednesday to them. Anna woke up with an ear ache and Nathan just didn’t want to go to school. I could have encouraged them by ”breaking the news’ to them early. But that would have ruined the surprise and the impact would have been lessened. So I had to watch them deal with disappointment. I had allow them to endure tough times, knowing full well that joy was right around the corner.

As I was watching this all transpire, I wondered, ‘Does God ever feel this way?’

You know, those times when we are in the tunnel but can’t see a light at the end of the tunnel. Is He watching over us, wanting to let us know that He has it all worked out, but we just need to be patient?

Or those times when we just feel stuck and wonder, does He really care about me and what I am going through? Am I significant?

Those precious words from 2 Peter 3:9 come to mind as I wonder these thoughts aloud.

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

Hold on my friends. Keep waiting on the Lord. He hears your cry. He will be your rescuer at just the right time!

And I’ll give you another chance to be patient. You’ll have to wait until next week to find out about my surprise. šŸ™‚
