Austin Gardner just wrapped up a successful college basketball career for the University of Findlay. While he was like many other student-athletes around the state of Ohio, he was also very different. He endured a number of injuries throughout his career, and then wrote about those injuries, and how they drew him closer to God, in a book he self-published before finishing up his Masters at the University of Findlay.
Life Influences
Austin credits the influence of his coach as one of the guiding factors in his life. He also looked back at the physical injuries he’s faced as a life-long basketball player. His coach encouraged him to be honest with himself which led to a very positive experience.
Luke 1:37
Austin sees this verse as the embodiment of his college career. His journey was by no means easy, but in the end was worth it. He also credits Fellowship of Christian Athletes with being a spiritual influence in his life and how he was able to spread the gospel through this verse.
Austin Gardner, Author
As Austin read more in college, it inspired him to share his story with others. He enjoys writing, and it just seemed like the natural extension to express his faith. You can see more about his book HERE
