We’re excited to share another event created by a young adolescent with a dream! Hoops for Heartbeat was founded by Toby Smith, an amazing kid with passion for basketball and raising money for Heartbeat of Lima, a non-profit organization that offers support, counseling, and baby items for families that have at-risk children.
Hoops for Heartbeat
Toby came up with Hoops for Heartbeat, a community event centered around his love for basketball and awareness for Heartbeat of Lima. Each year, participants gets a chance to throw 100 free throws. For every free throw they make, a pledge is made towards Heartbeat. Some supporters often choose to give a flat donation for their contribution.
This year will be the 5th event! Over the last four years, participants have raised just under $10,000.00 to support Heartbeat of Lima! Way to go, Toby!!
Toby is one of many kids looking to make a difference. If you or your child is interested in joining the fun this year, stop out at Union Chapel Missionary Church, on the corner of St Rt 81 and Thayer Rd. on March 24th from Noon to 3pm! If you are unable to participate, you can simply sponsor Toby and his cause by going to the Hoops for Heartbeat Facebook page and comment with your pledge amount. Toby’s team will follow up with you for details.
