Happy Thanksgiving 2017

Thanksgiving Trials

I lost my voice Friday. It’s starting to come back, but it’s not there yet. As I was writing the scripts for Friday’s Sports Report, tonight, my nose started bleeding. My son is currently beside himself because he has lost his favorite stuffed animal. The search is on. (I should go help him.) And we are getting ready to get up early, pile in the van, head to Marion Local as a family so that I can speak at their career day, and then travel another 4 hours for a family Thanksgiving.

Being Thankful

Oh yeah, we’re supposed to be thankful right? Not just this week (The Bible says be thankful in ALL things), but especially this week, right?

If we were in Canada, we would have had to be thankful last month and I wouldn’t be in this mess, trying to make myself thankful haha. That’s when Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving.

But in all seriousness, we need to look through the difficult circumstances and find reasons to be thankful. It’s a great personal exercise to focus on how God is the giver of all good gifts, rather than focus on how I’m hurting. So let’s give it a try.

I’m thankful that I get to do jobs that I love and that require me to use my voice. I’m thankful for a son who cares so much about me and his stuffed animals, knowing someday he will be a great Dad that cares for his family.

This feels good doesn’t it? Let’s keep going.

Gratitude

I’m thankful for a wife who gets us all packed and ready to go on trips that are short and trips that are long. I’m thankful for family in Indiana and Texas, that we get to spend time with, at different parts of the year.

Most of all, I’m thankful that God has much more patience then I do. That the smallest things don’t get under his skin, and that He was willing to stay the course and die for my sins, and then defeat death on the third day.

There are lots of reasons to be thankful, even when life feels a bit overwhleming.

I encourage you to start the Thanksgiving holiday with a list of your own. Maybe it will be the recipe for a very Happy Thanksgiving!
