During a recent Missions Sunday event, Jennifer Beck had a chance to get to know Jackie Meeker, organizer of the food pantry at County Line Church of the Brethren.
Finding your gift
Do you know what your gift is? Everyone has been given one, so how are you using yours? If you don’t know what it is, follow in the footsteps of this County Line member and work with an accountability partner to discover it!
That’s exactly what Jackie Meeker did when she first began attending County Line. She was encouraged by her pastor to find out what exactly her gift was. God eventually brought the food pantry to Jackie’s mind, and it quickly became her mission field.
Serving others
It has been an amazing blessing to Jackie as well as those served by the church. It’s a fantastic outreach, and includes a large clothing pantry as well. Jackie and County Line developed their mission from Jesus’s words in Matthew 25:34-40:
In many cases, individuals need just that extra bit of help and visit the pantry for their supplemental bag of groceries or clothing necessities.
Location and Hours
County Line is located at 4227 N. Hardin Road in Harrod and the food and clothing pantries are open every Tuesday from 10am-1pm. Anyone within a 10 mile radius from the church is welcome to make use of this ministry once per month — just bring a drivers license and a utility bill or another form of address verification.
Serving others: it’s the model Jesus gave us and one that Jackie is following by using her gifts. How can you serve others? Is there anything we “get” when we do?
