This morning, as I was driving my kids to school, I heard a sweet request from the back seat: my 6-year-old daughter Anna asked me to put on the ‘I love you song’. You probably don’t know which song she meant, but I sure know. The ‘I love you song’, is our special song that we sing to each other when we go on daddy-daughter dates, but never once, does it have the words, ‘I love you.’
Our Special Song
Isn’t that interesting? The song is special because it is our song. It conveys love in its words, but more specifically, it conveys love because it is between two people who love each other. So what song is it? I know you’re curious. It may surprise you.
It’s “Always there for you,” by Stryper.
Yep, my daughter likes to sing Stryper in the car (not all of Stryper mind you, just the ballads, but I will take it!)
We crank that song and sing to each other like it was meant to be sung. We belt it out at the top of our lungs! And through it, Anna knows that I will always be there for her.
That’s love.
I tell her that I’ll always stand by her.
Love again.
And so many times, we talk about how God is always there for us, no matter where we find ourselves.
You guessed it. Love
It’s a promise straight from the mouth of Jesus.
Maybe, just maybe, God is singing that song to you right now. Minus the yellow and black.
