Did you know that bone broth is one of the best defenses you can have against wintertime sicknesses? Making it at home is easy! Listen as Jennifer Beck walks you through the step by step process.
First things first
Throughout the year, collect bones from chicken, turkey, and even the bones from T-bone steaks. Once you have a bag full, you can start with you broth. The next thing you’ll need is apple cider vinegar — we recommend you use organic, raw apple cider vinegar with the mother, available from many area health food stores or the healthy food section of your grocery store. You’ll also need some water and a crock pot.
The recipe for homemade Bone Broth
First, put your bones in the crock pot. Next, fill it full of water and then add one quarter cup of apple cider vinegar. Turn your crock pot to low and let it cook for 24 to 36 hours,. or even longer. The color of the water will change, and this is normal. You’ll also notice an mild aroma — this too is normal.
When you’re finished, remove the bones, and strain the broth. Store in the refrigerator and consume within a week, or freeze or can the broth for longer term storage.
