Does God Hear Me?
Have you ever asked the question “Does God hear me?” We can tell you almost everyone has at some point. Maybe you’ve experienced this: it seems like no matter how hard you pray, God stays silent. It can be a maddening experience, especially when you’re seeking Him for something you really need. For what are you asking him? Have you considered He might be calling you to Him first? It can be mind blowing to comprehend, but the Creator of the Universe wants to have a personal relationship with you. Unfortunately, there is a three letter word that gets in the way of that: sin.
We need to get this point out there immediately: everyone has sinned. It’s easy to look at someone else’s life and think that person is perfect. Here’s a secret: no one is. We’ve all fallen short of God’s glorious standard. We’re all sinners: the apostle John tells us this in one of his letters.
The good news is that God has provided a way for us to be in a right relationship with Him. Take a moment and read this passage from Paul’s letter to the church in Rome. Notice the part in bold:
22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins.
The best known verse in the Bible is John 3:16:
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”
Can you imagine the depth of this love? It’s difficult to process. God loves you. He loves each of us! Say this out loud: “God loves me.”
Say it again. Say it a third time, with confidence!
Did you feel that love when you said those three words? He wants to be in a personal relationship with you. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, what you’ve done: we can all be forgiven of our sins and have a deep friendship with our Heavenly Father.
Sometimes, in our attempts to be spiritual, we make redemption really complex. We think we need to do this or that in order to become a Christian. However, it’s much more simple than we realize. The same verse we already shared from Romans gives us the answer.
We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ.
It might sound crazy, but simply ask Him to be your Savior. This simple act of faith will forgive you of your sins. It brings you into a relationship with Him. You don’t have to figure it all out right now: just ask Him to redeem you and you’re redeemed. Period.
Does God hear me?
This is the original question, isn’t it? Listen, there are times when God is silent in our lives for reasons only He understands. We can’t answer why He is silent, but what we can say is that God will hear your prayer of repentance. He hears all of His children’s prayers.
Right now we’re going to ask you to take a step of faith. Below we have a simple prayer. As you read it, say it out loud. Believe it as you say it. God will hear you.
